Remembering the midnight moment God gave me Whose Manger is This? still excites me. I didn’t know much about the publishing industry, but I knew this little manuscript conveyed a sweet message for children and adults.
Rowdy Ram stomps his feet because there’s a baby in the manger where the animals eat. Seven other animals argue over what they want from the manger as they overlook the sleeping baby. Once they realize the baby is Jesus, they give rather than demand the selfish wants they hope to receive. This is their act of worship.
This premise sheds light on the selfish ways of human consumption. The average American spends approximately 1,000 dollars on Christmas each year. This spending has exponentially grown from year to year and decade to decade. In 2022, 936.3 billion was spent on Christmas. All this spending has nothing to do with Christmas, and during the hustle and bustle, we may miss Christ.
Over two thousand years ago, Jesus lay his baby head in an animal’s feeding trough, which seemed unfit for the king. His humble birth pointed toward his time on earth, where he made himself of no reputation but lived a simple life of servanthood. He sacrificially gave himself to save us from our sins. Don’t miss God’s Son, Heaven’s gift.
Will we be consumed with receiving this Christmas season, or will we focus on Jesus and give Him our gift of worship?
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11
God Bless You with your book again this year during this holy season!!
