Hug Your Pastor's Wife—She's Serving Too - Her View From Home

I knew the Lord was calling me to work. My past Pastor backed me and then recanted. He needed clear guidance before allowing this work within the church. Disappointment ensued and waiting was hard, but scripture instructs us to obey those who rule over us and watch for our souls. After three months of fasting and praying, the Pastor gave me the green light, and I experienced years of growth. Children were impacted, and many were saved. I left church one morning and shook the hand of my Pastor’s wife. She stated, “Your reaction to this instruction will make or break this work for the Lord.” I’ve never forgotten the wisdom and truth of her statement. Pastor’s wives are remarkable women.

Pastor’s wives are presented with personal marital issues and more. Ladies, imagine adding intense warfare, standing by your husband as he prepares and preaches, and helping shoulder a load of congregational needs to your personal life. I encourage you to compile a list, pray for, and reach out to Pastor’s wives this month. Let them know what they mean to you. Perhaps you know wives who are widowed and could use a kind word, a card, a phone call, or a visit. I encourage you to be proactive and minister to women who have spent their lives ministering to others. This validation is deserved.

A successful Pastor needs a faithful wife. Her love, support, and prayers are outstanding contributions to God’s work in his life. I admire and respect women who rise to the task of helping meet their pastor’s or preacher’s husband’s needs. These Pastors’ wives are better women than I am!

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Let’s include their wives when bestowing honor upon Pastors. Pray for your pastor and his wife this month and year-round.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Proverbs 31:11 and 12

Thank you for writing this tribute to pastor’s wives and reminding us to honor them this month (and every month). We often overlook their many contributions.

I fear pastor’s wives are too often forgotten while honoring our pastors in October. A reminder is often necessary!
