Repair, Repaint, and Reclothe

Walls can become drab over time. Scuffs and marks from little hands and holes from décor need to be repaired before a fresh coat of paint is applied. I remodeled seven years ago and repaired and repainted every room but one. New floors, vintage décor, baskets, and newly painted shutters, doors, and porches made my home look different. These changes are noticeable.

Sometimes, our walk with the Lord becomes damaged because we conform to the worldly system. Spiritual wickedness in high places can hinder our pursuit of serving our Savior. This leaves holes in our walk, which calls for action. Repairs transforming our hearts and minds need continual renewal in God’s word. We must constantly fill our minds with reading, preaching, and applying Scriptures to keep our walk full and revived.

Once our spiritual holes are filled with truth, we need a fresh anointing like our homes need a fresh coat of paint. Seeking God’s touch will keep us vibrant as we serve others. I daily need God’s touch as I am weak without his strength. We need to be strong in the Lord and the power of his might (paraphrase of Ephesians 6:10).

Like décor for our home, we must reclothe our fleshly bodies with God’s armor. We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against the schemes of Satan (paraphrase of Ephesians 6:11). Our midsection needs to be bound, fast and secure with truth. This will hold the remaining armor in place. We must put the shoes of the gospel of peace on our feet as we walk through this evil world to avoid injury. We must use our shield of faith to protect our bodies from the enemy’s fiery darts. Our helmet of salvation must be constantly placed upon our heads to remind us that the grace of God saves us. And we must use our sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God! This defeats our enemy during close combat.

We must persevere in prayer, asking God to supply our needs and the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ladies, let’s repaint, repair, and reclothe our bodies to ensure our minds are ready for spiritual battle. The lost world we’re striving to reach will notice.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6

An inspirng, and much needed reminder for us to Repair, Repaint, and Reclothe. I’d add Renew as well–I know I need that on a daily basis. Thank you for your wonderful example of sharing the love of Jesus with others.
