Eighteen preachers met to pray because an unreached village needed to hear the gospel. After collective and private prayer the least qualified man felt the call to go.
The willing preacher’s withered leg made the task before him nearly impossible. Hindered by his limited physical state, he almost died as he trekked through miles of rough terrain to unreached souls. Upon his arrival the village people nursed him back to health and he won the entire cannibalistic community to the Lord.
Years prior the people had witnessed a miracle. A ravenous fever ran through their village killing many. A crippled man had found a berry that cured the plague and saved the remaining natives. Vowing to honor the impeded they determined to never consume them. The previous seventeen preachers would not have survived, but one crippled preacher lived to tell the story of a whole community’s conversion to Christ.
We are all crippled. Our impediments may not be seen from the outside, but we certainly lack from within. Fear, failure, insecurities, hang-ups, and inadequacies hinder us all. But, what if we surrender to God’s call anyway? We might embody the deficiency to win a specific people group to Christ.
I often struggle with my lack of cultural experience, education, and knowledge. I feel feeble among my peers; nevertheless I am called to write. In comparison to God’s infinite knowledge, power, and capabilities all humans are maim. Yet, we are called to spread the gospel.
God uses crippled Christians. Will we go?
…..Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15
We are all impeded, crippled, and handicapped in some way, yet God loves us anyway and has a purpose for us. Thank you for this encouraging message and the reminder that we are all called to be His witnesses and spread the love and light of Christ to all.
Yes. His love and purpose for us exceeds our limitations.
So glad God uses imperfect people to accomplish his work. GOD BLESS
I’m thankful He uses imperfect people too. Why he chose to do so is beyond my understanting.
What a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing this message. I am reminded of God calling me to the mission field at the same time I was crippled by Multiple Sclerosis. He works in mysterious ways.
Wow, Annie you are a lady of perseverence. I’d love to read a blog from your site about this calling!
I love your message. We are all limited but still able to serve. All my stomach issues never kept me from following God onto the mission field. Thank you for sharing Lisa.
Thank you for your comment. It’s interesting how we all have something to deal with as we serve.
