“So Nana, he was dreaming of when he was a boy?”, asked my sweet six year old granddaughter. 

Anna had no trouble following the story of THE LEGEND OF CHRISTMAS An Untold Story of the Real St. Nicholas by Theresa White. Children are inclined to accept truth over fiction yet we fear otherwise. Is there a need for the tale of Santa Clause and presents delivered via the chimney? Or might the true story of St. Nick bring interest and intrigue?

My granddaughter Anna was captivated by St. Nicholas’ imprisonment and reoccurring dreams of his mother sharing the annunciation and birth of Christ. In this telling of St. Nick, truth is told with sensitivity to young audiences. What it means to witness is clearly communicated through text, while the illustrations evoke joy of the gospel message in the midst of suffering. Christ is exhalted and real faith is active. 

Nicholas’s cellmate is eager to hear the gospel as he meets the legendary St. Nicholas of Myra who was known for his good deeds, standing for justice, and giving money to poor children. Yet, in this account, St. Nick spends no time talking of himself but rather sharing his Savior. 

December 6th is Saint Nicholas Day. I recommend buying THE LEGEND OF CHRISTMAS An Untold Story of the Real St. Nicholas. Your children or grandchildren (as in my case) will love this truth filled book. 

Children take things literally; much truth can be absorbed at an early age. Teaching the gospel message and historical accounts of Christ followers are meaningful modes of filling young minds with truth.

My heart is greatly saddened by the progressive movement corrupting the minds of our children. We have weakened our resolve to teach children Biblical truth, as if the accounts from God’s Word will harm them. Yet, we allow inappropriate media, teaching of gender dysphoria and drag queen shows into our homes and schools. 

Our society has moved from killing babies in the womb to destroying young minds who exit the womb. Satan is out to kill, steal and destroy-our children. Parents and grandparents, fill your children’s minds with as much truth as you can: preaching, teaching, devotions, prayer, your faith, Bible reading and books filled with true accounts. 

Like Saint Nicholas, let’s continue to share truth no matter the persecution and pressure from society. If we expect our children to be free from Satan’s lies, we must teach truth. 

Then said Jesus to those Jesus which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:31 and 32
