For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself: first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. Mark 4:28
From propping to product the work is worth it! I recently wrote a post sharing our effort of corn propping. The strong wind and rain blew our corn over, twice. The second time left our corn lying in the mud. As I scooped up the mud to form mounds around the roots to hold up the corn my mind turned to my incarcerated friends. They often need propping to help them stand tall after falling flat.
Propping doesn’t always keep my friends standing as they sometimes lean in the wrong direction and fall again. But at times, some ladies stand upright and live productive lives. We are never guaranteed to see results as we labor for our Lord but we must labor nonetheless.
My corn leaned at first but as the sun shine dried the mud around the roots they again stood tall. Just like the corn needed sun to support the mounds around the roots my friends need support from the SON. I can share God’s word but they need Jesus in order to grown. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
The ears on the stalks continued to grow until the tassels turned brown. My corn produced approximately eight dozen ears. Not a large harvest, but fruitful none the less. We are to carry the message of Jesus’ saving grace to the lost and dying world. We are not promised an abundant harvest but we are commanded to go.
One soul is worth any effort we make to share Jesus Christ. As we meet the lost in the muddy places, help prop them when they fall and continue to share Jesus on a regular basis, may we be reminded that we will see products-saved soul. Don’t give up on your lost family and friends. Remember, our labor is not in vain.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abound in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
I Corinthians 15:58
“We must labor nonetheless.” LOVE that!!
Thank you dear friend!
So many lessons and analogies we can draw from nature! Thanks for sharing.
