Beyond This World

And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new….

Revelation 21:5a

Fast and loud is what two ladies will be one day.

Mickey is wheelchair bound but can sing sweet songs for Jesus. Kerry on the other hand, moves quickly from place to place but cannot carry a tune. They grew up together in our small home town, each with their own ability to give. Mickey is a fun loving lady who does not bemoan her circumstances but lives a full and meaningful live as a wife, mother and friend to many. Kerry is also a wife, mother and friend to many. Her walk with her Lord shines brightly in her home, in her place of business and in her daily walk.

These friends often talk of heaven. Kerry plans to sing a song the angels cannot sing to the top of her God given glorified lungs. Micky plans to run the streets of gold at super speed compliments of her glorified legs. They claim they will do so with such gusto that Jesus will tell them to stop and shut up. But that will not be the case! I believe Mickey can run throughout eternity from wall to wall of that bright city if she chooses to do so! Kerry can sing to her heart’s content, with a voice that will surpass any earthly voice ever given on this side of eternity! Jesus will not stop our expression of praise nor will we ever tire of giving Him glory. Our glorified body will never know what tired feels like (I Corinthians 15:51-53).

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow,               nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away (Revelation                 21:4).

In heaven Mickey will never feel another ache or pain from being wheel chair bound. Kerry will never feel the stresses of being a business owner and running to and fro as she completes her daily tasks. These friends will never feel grief of losing a loved one to death, they will never be full of sorrow over what might have been, they will never shed another tear due to feeling disappointed, and they will never experience physical or emotional pain. These former problems will be passed away, for they will live in uncorrupted, immortal bodies.

Mickey and Kerry’s story makes me smile and if you know these two you feel the same. May we learn from their example and rest in our God given abilities while lending ourselves to Him. We are here to be used for God’s Glory while gracing His earth. This earth will end but if we have experienced new birth in Jesus Christ,  eternity will be time enough to praise our Savior-unlimited by our earthly bodies of flesh. Let us not lament what we missed in this life, but rather let us rejoice in what will be-beyond this world.

Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Ephesians 3:21

I enjoyed your snapshot of Kerry and Mickey! And I’m thankful for the godly women God has placed in my life who taught me what aging with grace looks like. Thanks, Lisa!
