….but ye are washed,…. 1 Corinthians 6:11
SIN IS NOT A SPLASH OF MUD ON MAN’S EXTERIOR; IT IS A FILTH GENERATED FROM WITHIN HIMSELF. -CHARLES SPURGEON
Eve lingered near the tree and Adam failed his leadership role. Because of this, Satan seized the opportunity to deceive Eve. He lied and coaxed Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Consequently, he convinced her God was withholding knowledge of good and evil. Because of this, she ate and gave to Adam. They became sinners. For this reason we inherited our sin nature.
God commanded Adam not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of God and Evil. If he ate, he would die. Eve was aware of these consequences as revealed in her conversation with Satan. Nevertheless, they ate anyway, and God kept his word. Physical and spiritual death was inevitable. Life as they knew it, changed forever. They would physically perish by natural death. Additionally, God’s pronounced His punishment. No longer allowed to keep the garden, they were cast out. Adam earned provisions by physical labor, Eve’s labor in childbirth became intensely painful, and the beguiling serpent forever slithers on the ground.
Throughout the cannon of the scriptures God dealt with sin. Not only did he deal with Adam and Eve’s sin, but he dealt with the Israelite’s sin, King David’s sin, Ananias and Sapphira’s sin, Saul’s sin and many more people’s sin. What’s more, God will deal with our sin. Sin is unsafe; it separates us from the presence of God, which is a serious issue.
God is holy and he forbids sin, that is reason enough to forsake sin.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Romans 6:15
Forbidden sin separates us from God. Indeed, one solution exists for our sin problem; Jesus Christ! We must be washed cleansed, sanctified and justified through Him and by the Spirit of our God. As Jesus told Nicodemus, natural birth is not enough, spiritual birth is required. We must be born again by believing in God’s only begotten son thereby, receiving the Holy Spirit. Moreover, sin is more than mud washed away with soap. in fact, sin is a heart problem washed away by our sacrificed Savior, Jesus Christ! Have your sins been washed away?
WORDS OF TRUTH
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:19
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:7
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?….I Corinthians 6:9a
And such were some of you, but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. I Corinthians 6:11
