Ready or Not

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matthew 25:13

Do you remember the days of playing hide-and-seek? I do! It is a fun game that keeps one hiding, counting, and waiting. The end goal is when one safely makes it to home base without being tagged. Hearing the cry, “ready or not, here I come” prompts preparation to run home safely.

Matthew chapter twenty-five tells of ten virgins, five wise and five foolish, who all heard the cry of the bridegroom’s coming. The wise possessed oil in their vessels but the foolish did not. The bridegroom tarried while they all slumbered and slept.

At midnight a cry proclaimed the Bridegroom’s coming. All the virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish asked the wise for oil but they were unable to share. The wise instructed the foolish to buy oil from the seller. While they were absent the bridegroom came. The wise virgins with oil in their lamps entered into marriage with the bridegroom, and the door was shut.

Jesus, by His Holy Spirit, prepares us to meet Him when he returns ensuring we enter into his presence. His return will be sudden, in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. Saved or lost, there will be no time to prepare when the trumpet sounds, it will be too late.

Don’t be foolish and wait too late. Today is the accepted time of salvation, while God’s grace is available. Unlike, Hide-and-Seek, preparation is not a game. We must be born again by the grace of God; it is the only way to reach Heaven safely. Clearly, the cry of Christ’s return is still extended. Furthermore, the time of the bridegroom’s appearance is drawing near. When the count down is over, the trumpet will sound. Ready or not, Jesus is coming soon. The door will be eternally shut.

Jesus is coming.

It will be sudden.

Are you ready?

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2 Corinthians 6:2

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8
