God is Love

….God is love. I John 4:8a

Several years ago I was in a tough spiritual battle. I was wounded, depressed, and lonely. While I was attending a function at my daughter’s school, one of her classmate’s mothers gave me a hug.  It might have seemed a small act but I needed her expression of love.

The lady who embraced me is a believer. Clearly, she was obeying I John 4:7: Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. The love she expressed helped a spiritual felt need in me at a very difficult time. She knew God, who led her to show love to me, therefore her hug brought ease to my weary heart.

One of God’s attributes is love. His word tells us he loves all humanity: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16). God manifested His love toward us. He sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. I John 4:9 God showed his love by giving His best, Jesus, to suffer and be crucified so that we might live. All humans are sinners in need of a Savior. Undoubtedly, I am one saved sinner who is thankful for the love of God!

God is love but He is also Holy. He will judge and punish sin. For this reason, Jesus died to make a way for sinners to escape eternal punishment in hell. It is not God’s will that any perish but that all come to repentance and belief in Jesus.

God has expressed the greatest love ever given to undeserving humanity. His love reaches farther than any human can. My friend’s hug helped at the moment but it took God’s love to heal my wounded, depressed and lonely heart. Not only is God’s love great but it is also limitless. Moreover, His love is offered in order to save and heal the hearts of all humanity.

Ladies, may we express God’s love to others who undoubtedly are hurting.

May we understand that God is love but He is also Holy.

May we all receive the greatest love ever given and experience God’s, unlimited love.

WORDS OF TRUTH

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. I John 4:9

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
