…the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Prov. 19:21

We are in a time when people rationalize perverse and unsound ways of thinking, even in the church. Furthermore, the more I hear, the more I want to adhere to God’s Word. His truth will stand.

Many Devices

Proverbs 19:21 begins with: There are many devices in a man’s heart….. Device means to plan or use a procedure or technique. It can also mean to scheme to deceive. If we make plans or life decisions based on our emotions, we will make wrong and unstable choices that will be destructive and ungodly. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9). Ladies, don’t follow your hearts, but rather obey God’s Word.

Counsel of the Lord

To counsel is to give advice. Additionally, it is a policy or plan of action or behavior and guarded thoughts or intentions. If we want sound advice that controls our behavior and keeps our thoughts or purposes, we can go to God’s Word. His word is forever settled in Heaven (Psalm 119:89). His word will not change. 

That Shall Stand

We have rapidly moved away from sound doctrine and Biblical truth in our society. We have adopted new versions, new ways of worship, and new ideas about the gospel; therefore, our churches experience confusion. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (I Corinthians 14:33). God’s word specifies divine order in the church.

Our place

Ladies, God uses women; however, we do not have authority in the church, especially the pulpit. I Cor. 14:34 and I Timothy 3:2 give us clear instructions for God’s plan. I find it a great relief to stay in my place and submit to authority. Indeed, it gives me peace and makes me feel safe and protected. There are too many devices in my heart; I need God’s truth and God’s order to be the woman I need to be. 

Stand Therefore

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,… (Eph. 6:14). If we stand, we must wear truth. Moreover, God’s truth is the only absolute truth in our world.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old pathes, where is a good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls….
