… lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,…. Matthew 6:20  

Lately, I have seen various posts on social media declaring people’s New Year’s resolutions. As a read the posts I am reminded that all that matters in this life is our service to Jesus Christ and obeying His Word. I long to love Him more, witness to the lost more, read my bible more, and to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that others see Jesus in me. Our life on earth is short. Let’s lay up treasures in Heaven.

All material possession are destructible. Houses can rot or be blown away. Jewelry can tarnish and rust. Clothes can be eaten by moths. Cars will rust if left in the elements. All material things are temporal yet we spend way too much time accumulating unnecessary items. We cannot take them when we leave this life.

Identity, credit cards and worldly possessions can be stolen by thieves. One thing that no one can steal is the treasures that we lay up in heaven. They cannot be affected by moths or the rusting process. They are secured for all eternity. 

I need to treasure things eternal. Our heart will be consumed with what we treasure whether it be our service to and love for Jesus or our gathering of possessions.

Ladies, let’s resolve to lay up treasures in Heaven. 

WORDS OF TRUTH 

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
