Jesus is Sweet

As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.  Song of Solomon 2:3&4

Under His Shadow

Because I have placed my trust in Jesus I am safe under his shadow. His outstretched wings cover me from danger as I walk among my enemies in this world. He shades me with his lovingkindness and keeps me from all harm.

With Great Delight

Moreover, I can sit in the presence of Jesus with great delight. I am free to express my needs and desires and He has promised to give me the desires of my heart. Consequently, I desire to know him more, love him more, reverence him more, please him more, and trust him more.

Because He is Sweet

Furthermore, nothing that I taste in this world compares to the sweetness of God. No food or pleasure offered in this life can touch the sweet peace and fellowship I have with Jesus. The truth of His infallible Word provides me with the sweet life of obeying the Savior. What’s more, the sweet presence of his Spirit floods my soul with comfort and guides me to all truth. In fact, I am blessed to sit under the protection of the apple tree among the trees of the wood.

In His Banqueting House

Additionally, Jesus spreads His table with a feast fit for a Queen. He provides me the meat of His Word, the bread of His body, and the redemption of His cup. In Jesus dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily and I am completely satisfied in him (Col. 2:9-10).

Over Me Is Love

Above all else, Jesus hangs a banner over me that reads-GREAT LOVE! Oh, the love of Jesus! Love that took the mocking, the stripes, the crown, the nails, and the angony of separation from His Father. Jesus gave His life to give me eternal life. Indeed, there is peace in knowing His banner of love waves over me today, tomorrow, and forever.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
