I Am Most Thankful

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:1

Fading as a Leaf

I took a brisk walk through the woods a few days ago. The pathway of leaves was faded yellow and dark brown. As I approached a maple tree I noticed that the vibrant red leaves fallen from this tree created a sharp contrast against the dull hue of the dying leaves. This reminded me that my life is fading and death is imminent, but I am thankful to be covered by the blood of Jesus

My Iniquities Blow Me Away

As I continued walking, the brisk breeze blew and leaves fell aimless to the ground. I am sometimes like leaves, carried about without clear direction as to where I will fall. My sinful nature often leads me astray and like leaves, I fall.

I was Shapen in Iniquity

I was shaped in my mother’s womb and I was born a sinner. Although I am a sinner, I remember the time I cried out to Jesus and he saved me. Moreover, his blood-covered my sins and redeemed me from the power of Satan.

All are Sinners

What’s more, the Bible instructs that we are all sinners; our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, We fade like leaves and our sins take us away like the wind blowing leaves through the air. Consequently, as sinners, we wander, without true purpose, through this world without direction.

Fallen Nature

Moreover, we are each formed sinners in our mother’s womb, therefore, we are naturally fallen creatures. I am thankful, God showed mercy (kind and forgiving treatment instead of harshness), by sending Jesus to redeem us, our fallen, sinful nature. We find this truth in God’s Word.

 God’s Word

Indeed, the reading, teaching, and preaching of God’s Word are what show us that we are lost sinners in need of a Savior. Once we surrender ourselves to Jesus in repentance and believe in Him as our Lord and Savior, we are forgiven and are covered by His blood. Through God’s Word, we are brought to faith in Jesus Christ.

Most Thankful

Dear friend, are your sins covered by the blood of Jesus? If not, they can be. Mine are and for that, I am most thankful this Thanksgiving season.

WORDS OF TRUTH

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.  Isaiah 64:6

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.  Psalm 51:5

For this is my blood, shed of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28

Great reminder this fall season that we are all fading away, and we need to make sure we are covered by the blood. Thankful for my Savior!
