Precious in His Sight

To everything there is a season,…. Eccl. 3:1a

Death

I lost a dear family member, my favorite Uncle, Harry Potts. Harry was faithful, hard-working, generous. loving and Godly. He had lived seventy-nine years and it was his time for God to take him home. There is a time to die (Eccl. 3a) and we will all face that time, it is inevitable.  God’s Word states this truth: ...It is appointed unto men once to die, but after that the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). How we die is what matters.

Judgment

We will all die but our soul’s condition will determine our judgment. We can have boldness in the day of judgment: (I John 4:17) if we have believed in God. When we know and believe the love that God has for us therefore we dwell in God and he dwells in us (I John 4:16). There is no greater love than the love of Jesus Christ who took our wrath so that we might escape eternal punishment in hell (Romans 5:9).

Iniquity

We are all born sinners in need of a savior. We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away (Isaiah 64:6). I grew up with an uncle who was jovial and full of life. Through the years he grew weaker due to health problems and losing my aunt Kat. His life was fading away and he seemed to lose his vibrancy for life but to me, the color displayed just before death is the most precious.

Precious in His Sight

Praise God for his salvation. My Uncle Harry had believed and confessed (Romans 10:10) therefore he had salvation in the Lord. Uncle Harry attended church, read his Bible and loved his Lord more fervently the last few years of his life. All who knew him could witness the light of Jesus. We will miss him but precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints (Psalm 116:15). Uncle Harry will forever live in the presence of His LORD who has welcomed him home.

WORDS OF TRUTH

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds fo the body, ye shall live (Romans 8:13).

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23).

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Eph. 2:8).

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
