Sealed; Forever

For this child I prayed: and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

1 Samuel 1:27

Kyle and Courtney received the call October 6, 2020. The birth of a sweet baby boy two days prior prompted the call from DCS. Opportunity for a new born with the intent to adopt arose. Courtney instantly felt compelled to hold this new baby boy. They visited the hospital and stayed.

For the next ten days Kyle and Courtney rotated time with their two girls at home and time at the hospital with Noah. They both bonded deeply with Noah and the journey began. Once the hospital stay was complete Noah was brought home to meet his sisters.

Anna and Jo loved Noah from day one as we all did. My husband Michael and I love our grand girls beyond expression of words. Like the girls, Noah instantly found his place in our hearts.

Adjusting to a newborn changes family dynamics and requires much effort from the parents, the siblings and from their support people. This journey challenged us and required constant prayer. Doctor visits and social work visits take time and energy. Training, paper work and navigating the system requires prayer, persistence, and patience. Coping with biological family issues require grace and strength. But, from the beginning, loving Noah was a natural and enjoyable process.

Noah is God sent and a perfect fit for our family. He is strong-willed but so is Mama! He is a rambunctious boy who requires lots of rough play, but Daddy meets that challenge! He is loved by his big sister Anna whom he looks to for help! His middle sister Jo is his compassionate and understanding playmate. Nana and Pa find great delight in Noah as does Grandma. We are all eagerly standing by to babysit!

Adoption day finally arrived September 16, 2022. We gathered in the chancellor’s office with the immediate family, myself and my husband, Kyle’s mom Jo-Dee, and the adoption lawyer. Noah Michael Romine is blessed with an immediate and extended family who love him immensely. We are beyond blessed to love and nurture this sweet boy for the rest of our lives and his.  Adoption is final and irrevocable. Noah’s belonging in our hearts is permanent.

Thirty plus years ago, as a lost fatherless child wandering aimlessly, I too was adopted. But God, who is rich in mercy, drew me to His son Jesus who saved my soul. I am now permanently placed into the family of God with God as my father and Jesus as my big brother. I also gained brothers and sisters in Christ, who help me and are compassionate and understanding.

I  am secure, I belong and I am loved in God’s family. We are committed to giving Noah the same sense of security with assurance of belonging and being loved. Our love for Noah is sealed in our hearts-forever.

Who hath sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 1:22

What a sweet story. Adoptive parents are extra special people. I like, also, your analogy with our (Christians) Father’s adoption of us.
